Students and faculty at a Westchester Catholic high school are mourning the death of a teacher killed in a head-on collision.
The two-car collision happened around 4:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Mahopac Avenue.
Kennedy Catholic High School officials say 80-year-old Sister Barbara Heil was killed in Friday evening's crash along Route 6 in Yorktown.
Heil was a Latin teacher at the school since its inception in 1967, according to the school's website. The website also says that another nun, 84-year-old Sister Marie Murphy, is in intensive care as a result of the crash.
Heil was also known as a gifted seamstress and would stitch costumes for the school's annual play. Students in this year's play took part in a prayer service Saturday after they learned of her death.
State police say the other driver was also seriously injured and airlifted from the crash scene.
Wake services for Sister Barbara will be held Wednesday in White Plains and her funeral will be held Friday.
