Hundreds of residents held a rally in Verplanck Wednesday night to protest two energy projects they say would ruin their neighborhood.
The proposed energy facility would include two projects; a natural gas pipeline and buried high-voltage cables.
Residents say it would be a headache and a health hazard to people who live nearby. Opponents also say the proposed sites are too close to homes and schools and would run through a residential neighborhood.
Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi says the town board has agreed with her to buy the property the high-voltage cables will be on. She hopes that will stop the project in its tracks.
