Three people walking in Downtown Yonkers Friday were hit by a van that jumped a curb.

The van jumped the curb and crashed into the storefront of Williams Farms on New Main Street just before 11 a.m.

Yonkers police say among those injured was a 40-year-old pregnant woman with an ankle injury and her 6-year-old child, who suffered abrasions. A 51-year-old store employee also suffered a fractured leg.

"There’s a bunch of stores here, this is a very big commercial district here in the downtown area, so it’s very busy, especially on a Friday morning,” says Frank DiDomizio, of Yonkers police. “We are just thankful nobody else got hurt."

The three victims were taken to a hospital.

People in the area say it’s a miracle no one was seriously injured.

"It’s actually shocking and scary because we always go there to get our stuff, so it could have happened to anybody,” says Miriam Gutierrez, of La Piñata Bakery.

Police say the van was occupied by an unlicensed driver, who had a learner permit and a child inside the vehicle.

The incident is not being investigated criminally, but the driver and the owner of the vehicle were both issued summonses.

The crash comes just days after a driver in a stolen SUV plowed into 10 people in Manhattan.
