Valuable falcon missing from Pace University comes home to roost
viewer returned a valuable falcon that was missing from Pace University after a story about the bird aired Tuesday.
Delta is a 7-year-old Lanner Falcon that is worth about $10,000. She escaped from Pace University's Environmental Center in Pleasantville on June 1. Campus security was responding to a fire alarm and mistakenly broke the locks on the barn where she was kept, and she got out. Delta had been living with a male falcon in hopes the two endangered species would mate.
Angel Ortiz, of Yonkers, loves wildlife and often finds himself caring for sick or injured animals that people bring to him. A friend brought Delta to Angel after she was found in Thornwood. Ortiz had been caring for Delta for two weeks until he heard the story on the news and brought her back to the university. Ortiz received a $200 reward from Pace.
