A manhole explosion in Poughkeepsie, which narrowly missed a child and a person pushing a baby stroller, was caused by an electrical fault on an underground cable, Central Hudson officials said.
The incident was not related to the city's natural gas distribution system.
Central Hudson is inspecting the damaged cable to identify the fault's cause and ensure safety.
No injuries were reported.
