Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano has announced that six award-winning pieces of art will be now displayed in storefront windows in downtown Yonkers.
The winning artists were part of the city's "Open Call for Urban Art."
The works were chosen by 250 Yonkers residents and artists, who voted on the city's website.
Spano says the project is a vital part of continuing downtown revitalization. "You can't revitalize a downtown without art. The arts are so important because so much follows it youths, follows the colleges. The business and the community that likes to make investments very often follow the arts."
