An unlicensed Yonkers cosmetologist was sentenced to nine months behind bars today in connection to the death of a Bronx woman after silicone injections.
Elsa Then was convicted last month in the death of 43-year-old Fiordaliza Pichardo. Officials say Then gave the woman silicone injections in 2009, and used paper towels and super glue to try and close the wounds.
Pichardo later died of cardiac arrest. Doctors determined that it was a blood clot that led to Pichardo's death.
Pichard's family said it was appalled by the short sentence. Then faced a maximum of four years in prison.
