A man in Ramapo caused a scare Tuesday by bringing a suspicious envelope into the police station.

Officials said it contained an unknown substance and was removed from the station.

A Rockland Hazmat team tested it and found it was not harmful.

Police advise against touching, smelling, or moving suspicious mail, recommending to isolate it and call 911.
