Undocumented immigrants from across the state who say they were shut out of pandemic relief funding are launching a hunger strike.
The weeklong action launched by activists in New York City calls for a $3.5 billion excluded worker fund. This week, the state Legislature released its budget that includes $2.1 billion.
Advocates say it’s not enough to ensure weekly payments on par with the unemployment benefits other workers have received.
