County police invited News 12 Westchester to observe a raid on a motel that resulted in the arrest of several alleged prostitutes Thursday.
The sting focused on Internet prostitution, in which potential clients go online and place orders for hookers.
In preparation for Thursday's undercover operation, an officer pretending to be a customer set up a meeting. Less than an hour later, an unmarked police van outside the motel radioed in that the woman was on her way.
After the undercover officer inside the room answered the door and paid the woman, a signal was given, and a team that was hiding next door moved in and arrested the 24-year-old, who introduced herself as Jennifer.
By the end of the operation, the Westchester County Police Department arrested seven alleged "working girls."
Authorities say they are aware that one sting will not stop online prostitution, but they hope that it sends a message to would-be perpetrators.
