News 12 was at “Corner of Ukraine” Friday afternoon as it opened its doors on Main Street in Nyack.
It’s said to be the only Ukrainian restaurant in Rockland County.
People can expect to be immersed in an authentic atmosphere, where there is traditional decor, food - and the wait staff wears traditional clothing as well.
The restaurant was started by Ivanka and Ivan Dashko, a Suffern couple who spent years in the catering industry.
They were both born and raised in Ukraine before coming to the U.S. years ago.
“I want to show our tradition. Not teach them but show them this is the houses look like back in Ukraine,“ said Ivanka. “I want them to take happiness. I want them to take happiness as a piece of Ukraine."
Ivo Bobul, a famous Ukrainian singer, stopped by to perform, too.
