Two men are under arrest in connection with the beating and robbery of an off-duty Yonkers police captain during his nightly walk, but police believe more suspects are still on the streets.Elvis Johnson and Rajad Daily were arraigned Friday for allegedly attacking Yonkers Police Captain Gerald Curtis on the corner of Palisade Avenue and Delavan Terrace November 14. Yonkers police say Johnson lives just blocks away from where the incident occurred. The two suspects were charged with robbery in the first degree and gang assault, both felonies. Police say they believe four or five men attacked Curtis from behind. They say the attackers kicked and punched Curtis; then stole his cell phone. Curtis, who heads the internal affairs division, was unarmed at the time. He was treated and released from St. Johns Hospital.Residents of the Yonkers neighborhood say crime is unusual there and they are glad to hear arrests were made in the case.
