Many Mount Vernon families in need received a free turkey Friday at Beulah Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The Junior League of Bronxville, Food Bank of Westchester and church leaders helped organize the turkey giveaway for those needing help during Thanksgiving.
Organizers aimed to give out more than 250 turkeys.
"A lot of people can't afford to get a turkey, so this is a good way for them to get a turkey to enjoy thanksgiving," says Peggy Malloy, of Mount Vernon.
