? Tuckahoe residents approved a $13.6 million bond for the middle school and high school Tuesday.
Middle School Science Teacher Anne Richter says the money will be well spent, citing improvements that need to be made in a science lab at Tuckahoe Middle/High School. Some of the money will be used to build new classrooms, renovate the library and add new turf on an athletic field at one school.
The school district says residents will pay $357 more each year in taxes. Many Tuckahoe residents and educators say it?s a small price to pay to improve their schools.
Tuckahoe School Superintendent Michael Yazurlo says some teachers currently have to hold class in hallways and other areas because of the overflow of students.
