A marked police vehicle was struck during a head-on crash in Monroe on Seven Springs Mountain Road, officials said.

The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was parked facing eastbound with its emergency lights activated while a trooper investigated an unrelated collision.

A 2007 Honda traveling westbound swerved to avoid another vehicle, lost control, and collided with the police vehicle.

The trooper was inside the vehicle at the time and was taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Honda reported no injuries. The trooper has since been released from the hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing.
