The Tri-State Transportation Campaign says Westchester's Bee-Line bus system needs to make a change.
Its latest report says the Bee-Line service is infrequent, unreliable and inaccessible.
"We found that the county is getting relatively little service for what they're paying for," says Talia Crawford, campaign organizer for the Tri-
State Transportation Campaign. "Buses were arriving late, there was infrequent service, there was mediocre communications between the Bee-Line and its customers.
"The Bee-Line serves as a first line of transportation for many residents, such as Analyssa Cabrera who rides the Bee-Line bus every morning from Getty Square."
For the most part, they don't come on time. Especially when I'm trying to get to school on time, it takes forever," she says. Cabrera says it's the tardiness that she's so upset with, and that sometimes she's had to wait up to 15 minutes.
"I understand traffic can play a part, but early in the morning I don't think there's that much traffic," she says. The Bee-Line operates under the service provider: Liberty Lines Transit, and the county has a contract for service with them.
"The contract contains several really concerning stipulations that would make it difficult for anyone to take over the contract, except for Liberty Lines," says Crawford.
That contract will end in December of next year.
