(11/24/06) WHITE PLAINS ? Rescuers moved quickly to dig out a worker who became trapped in a White Plains trench collapse Friday.
The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. when the trench collapsed and buried a worker up to his neck in dirt and debris. The victim was working to repair a wall, possibly damaged by Thursday?s drenching rains. After rescuers brought in plywood to strengthen the trench walls, they dug the victim out by hand.
The worker was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
