Trejo family remembers college student killed in Bedford crash

The family of a Fox Lane High School graduate killed in a head-on crash are continuing to honor his life.

The family of a Fox Lane High School graduate killed in a head-on crash are continuing to honor his life.
Diego Trejo and his dog Lily were killed on Dec. 16 when their car collided with another vehicle on Route 172 near Darlington Road in Bedford. The other driver survived the crash.
Trejo's two other siblings say they will always be the "Trejo Trio" even though they'll be missing one.
"He was the best older brother," says Stephanie Trejo, Diego's sister. "He protected me--he guided me through everything."
A memorial now sits just feet from the crash that symbolizes the love Diego embodied and the unbreakable bond of his family.
Trejo's family says he recently moved to Pound Ridge and began taking classes at Westchester Community College. They say he also volunteered at the Northern Westchester Boys and Girls Club.
"He touched the lives of so many people," says William Martinez, Diego's uncle. "He was always kind to everybody."
The Trejo family is holding a candlelight vigil to honor Diego's memory on Monday. It's taking place at the Boys and Girls Club in Mount Kisco at 8:30 p.m.
