A morning drive turned dangerous in Greenburgh after a tree came crashing down onto a moving Tesla along Jackson Avenue, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The incident happened while the Tesla was heading westbound on Jackson Avenue when large branches suddenly fell onto the vehicle.

The driver and the passenger suffered minor injuries, according to Greenville Fire Department Capt. Brian Raftery.

“There’s two occupants. They had minor injuries. They were treated on scene and then transported to the hospital,” said Raftery. “Now the tow is going to remove the vehicle and the town of Greenburgh DPW is going to remove the tree.”

The Tesla was heavily damaged and later towed from the scene as crews worked to clear large branches and debris from the roadway.

Authorities say recent heavy rain may have contributed to the incident, with saturated trees and water-laden branches becoming unstable.

Crews were expected to remove the remaining tree debris shortly.
