Millions of people headed out Friday with hopes the forecast did not impact their Independence Day travel plans.
More than 47 million Americans are expected to travel for Independence Day weekend, which is expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels.

Despite the highest gas prices in seven years, more than 90% of holiday travel will be by car this weekend. Nevertheless, travelers at gas stations filled up their tanks.
"I drive every day, so I kind of have to see it as an expense that's nothing I can really do about it," said John Lovett.
