An underground transformer explosion shook up a quiet neighborhood in Larchmont last night.
Residents of Addee Circle say an underground transformer exploded and caught fire causing flames to shoot from the ground around 6:30 p.m. They say about eight homes had to be evacuated.
Angry residents say this is not the first time people lost power. "The neighbor up the block, she's been here 40 years. She says this has been happening from the first year she was here," says George Cartis.
Residents tell News 12 it took about eight hours for the power to come back. While they are grateful to be back in their homes, they want Con Ed to find a solution to this long-term problem.
Con Edison says its crews were back at the cul-de-sac today working on the power lines.
