Metro-North trains are running on schedule as police investigate a deadly accident on the tracks Tuesday night.
Police say one person was struck and killed by a train on Metro-North's New Haven Line at the Mount Vernon East station.
MTA officials say the unauthorized person was hit on the tracks just after 7 p.m. Tuesday. MTA and Mount Vernon police responded to the scene. The train was headed toward Grand Central Station.
There were delays Tuesday night after the incident. The train that was involved was stopped on the tracks for about three hours. A portion of the Mount Vernon East station platform was also cordoned off while investigators worked the scene.
There is no word on what the person was doing on the tracks.
