Two Town of Highlands police officers are being recognized for helping residents out of a house engulfed in flames.
Police responded to the scene on Rivercrest Road in Fort Montgomery just after midnight.
One officer was helping to get a resident to safety when he was thrown from a porch after an explosion inside the house.
Officers got the occupant to safety and alerted others to leave the residence.
Another officer was able to rescue one of the resident's pet pig.
