The Town of Harrison is responding to allegations that its police chief harassed a female detective for almost six years.
As News 12 has reported, Det. Derka Abbate filed a sexual harassment complaint against Police Chief Michael Olsey.
It details years of alleged misconduct, including lewd text messages that Abbate says Olsey sent when he was sergeant.
The rown says it takes the allegations very seriously and released a statement saying in part, "The complainant requested strictest confidentiality of this matter, which the town has honored...."
"Apparently, the complainant chose to alter course and shared her allegations with the media before the written complaint was received and read by town officials."
Det. Abbate has denied any wrongdoing.
