Greenburgh town officials plan to remodel a Revolutionary War landmark into a museum over the next few years.
The Odell House on Ridge Road was the location at which George Washington and French Gen. Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau came up with the final strategy to win the Revolutionary War. The Town of Greenburgh will gain ownership of the historical house and has plans to turn it into a museum.
The house still needs a lot of repairs before opening day. It has broken doors, shattered windows, a damaged roof and overgrown greenery.
David Seal, a history enthusiast, created the nonprofit Friends of the Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters to raise funds for renovating. He says he wants more people to be able to learn about the history of the area.
Town officials hope to start work next year and open their doors to the public in 2021.
