A town hall meeting was held Wednesday at the Bronx Museum of the Arts for residents to learn more about the Ebola virus and how it is spread.
The meeting was put on by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in conjunction with the Bronx Borough President's Office and the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs.
Officials say they hope the meeting clears up misconceptions about the virus and how it is contracted.
People from all over the borough were encouraged to attend and ask questions.
Officials say it is a great opportunity to educate not only parents, but also children. In the last week, there were reports of children of West African descent being bullied about the virus.
At the meeting, officials stressed that the Ebola virus is similar to viruses in the past like Swine Flu and West Nile, in that they are mostly hype and there is no scientific reason to panic.
