Traffic is flowing smoothly at the intersection of South Fulton Avenue and Columbus Avenue in Mount Vernon, a stark contrast to Tuesday night's conditions.

Heavy rain caused flooding, closing a portion of the road until the water receded. A crash occurred on Columbus Avenue between an SUV and a motorized scooter, but injuries and weather's role are unclear.

Despite improved road conditions, nearby residents continue to deal with flooding. Gifty Asiedu, a resident who recently paid $2,300 to waterproof her area, woke up to a flooded basement. Teresa Gray, a 30-year resident, expressed frustration with the ongoing issue, saying "We need to see some action... We never used to have flooding."

The mayor reports emergency crews have been assisting residents, and city leaders urge caution while driving in the rain over the next couple of days.
