An EF1 tornado touched down in the Town of Wappinger in Dutchess County Wednesday night, traveling about a mile with a top speed of 100 mph.
"It was terrifying," says Cyndi Murphy, a resident. "From the time I noticed the sky looked strange, until everything blew apart, it was just two minutes."
Power lines tumbled down. Trees snapped in half. At least one building exploded, and so did a shed.
At one home, a 100-year-old tree fell into a sunroom.
"Oh my God, what a mess to clean up," says Hugh Graham, who was watching TV when the tree broke in.
Officials say no one was hurt.
