A massive bolt of lightning struck a utility pole on Waring Place in Yonkers Sunday afternoon.
It was just part of a severe thunderstorm that knocked out power to more than 900 households.
Residents report hearing loud thunder before their lights went out.
Within minutes, they say, Con Edison workers were already at work.
Without air conditioning, some of those residents chose to pass the time outdoors until workers completed repairs.
