News 12's Nikita Ramos hit the roads in Thunderbolt 12 to check out the stormy conditions across the Hudson Valley.

Alex Calamia. I feel like this is the perfect Sunday to just cozy up inside. I agree because I stepped outside briefly and was like, just so surprised at how dark it was Jen. And it's because of how thick the clouds are, but the rain is becoming a lot more scattered, a lot more drizzly and then eventually it just dissipates this evening. So you might be able to actually manage to go out without an umbrella, especially after sunset. The work week is totally dry. So that makes life a lot easier for us to plan. You do see that the rain chance is still more 50% through 10 o'clock. So that does mean that odds are you're at least dealing with drizzle and a little bit of mist until close to midnight. But then the rain chance drops off pretty quickly and we're not talking about a lot of additional rain. So you see uh totals including this morning, maybe a half of an inch or so. So that's manageable. Unfortunately, because it's been raining all day, the roads are a little slick. Visibility is a little reduced. So give yourself some time to get to where you have to go temperature right all day for the lower parts of Westchester County and the rest of us. Poughkeepsie, Kingston pine bush. You're in the mid forties, you drop very briefly into the thirties. Tonight. In the Upper Hudson Valley, there could be some frost in a few cooler neighborhoods. The rest of us are warmer. We're in the forties. It looks ok. Monday a little bit cooler in orange, Ulster County in the higher elevations. Most of us though get close to 50. We have a lot of sunshine in the morning and then clouds push in around lunchtime tomorrow, but those clouds do not produce showers. It's dry a less than 10% chance of rain on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So this is your entire work week that's looking dry, but it cools down. So we go from 52 Wednesday to 45 on Thursday. Um, actually 45 on Tuesday by Thursday though. You're at 41 degrees. So that's the coolest afternoon out of the bunch. First night of Hanukkah. You're down to 32 for that Friday morning and then we rebound to the fifties for next weekend. So it's a

Thunderbolt 12 checks on stormy conditions across the Hudson Valley

Yeah, yeah. You know the weather is really starting to pick up a little bit more now. I mean the rain has been kind of sporadically scattering like you were saying earlier, MEREDITH those cells popping up with some scattered showers sporadically, we've been seeing that here in Lower Westchester were on the sawmill now, around the Dobbs ferry area, just passing that area going southbound. Uh and it's looking like the rain is picking up. I mean you could see some of the raindrops up there on the on the windshield and the traffic is looking light, which is a good sign, meaning many people are staying indoors and off the roads because as we know with the dark skies and the rain, it's not causing for some of the greatest driving conditions right now. But as MEREDITH was saying, you know, a lot of the storm will be picking up around midnight even afterwards. So right now it's kind of like the calm before the storm, so to speak. Uh not too much right now, but if you are heading out the door this late, you're gonna want to bring an umbrella for sure because the rain is a little bit sporadic right now. But um we've been driving up and down the sawmill and a little bit more north, the rain was a little bit heavier but as we moved down it seems like the the storm path is kind of moving into our region as we speak. So the rain is moving into Lower Westchester right now with some showers coming in and out of the area. But um you know as the, as the storm picks up, you're gonna want to be careful of any downed trees and power lines if you do see any of that, of course, we're just reminding you right now that any downed power lines always assume it's live and report it immediately to your utility company. But yeah, we've been out in Thunderbolt all night and we've just been monitoring those conditions so far, The light traffic is causing for some a little bit safer conditions out there.
