It was a difficult night for travel after heavy rain left behind standing water in parts of Mount Vernon.

That was especially the case around 10 p.m. near Fulton Ave and Columbus Avenue. A portion of the road was closed off until the water receded.

Other than that, more than 1,000 people in Mount Vernon were left without power.

City leaders are urging people to be careful over the next couple of days and stay vigilant while driving in the rain.
