The Red Cross is helping three people Wednesday after a fire broke out in their Mount Vernon home.
The two-alarm fire began on the first floor of the Union Avenue house Tuesday. Twenty-three firefighters battled the flames for approximately two hours. One firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation.
Fire officials say a faulty air conditioner sparked the blaze and ignited a couch.
