Thousands of people attended the Lustgarten Foundation's Pancreatic Cancer Walk Sunday at Jones Beach State Park on Long Island.
More than 8,000 people walked for a cure. Many walked in memory of family members and friends who have died from the disease, and others walked to honor those who are still fighting.
Many participants said it's encouraging to know that they are making a difference by raising money. The Lustgarten Foundation hoped to raise more than $1 million for pancreatic cancer research with this year's walk.
Cablevision underwrites all of the Lustgarten Foundation's costs, so that all of its proceeds go directly to research. Cablevision is the parent company of News 12.
