Thornwood kidney transplant survivor going to Rose Parade
A Thornwood woman, celebrating her second chance at life, has been chosen to take part in the annual Rose Parade in California.
Mary Wu, 29, was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure at age three, and underwent kidney transplants at five and again at 12 years old.
Recently, Mary was selected by the Los Angeles-based "University Kidney Research Organization" to join 28 other organ recipients and their families on the Donate Life float in the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, Ca. The group will help decorate the float and then ride in it during the parade on Jan. 2.
The theme for the Donate Life float is "One More Day,? a reference to the chance at life, given to those who receive organ donations. Wu received her gift of life from the family of a 4-year old girl who passed away.
