Candidates for the 17th Congressional District were on the campaign trail Monday ahead of Election Day.
Republican Mike Lawler was in Jefferson Valley meeting with voters. He's running against Sean Patrick Maloney, who switched to run in this district after new lines were finalized earlier this year.
The new district takes in Rockland and Putnam counties and parts of Westchester and Dutchess.
"I feel very positive about where we are and the support that we're receiving from every community across the district," says Lawler. "I think tomorrow night will be pretty successful."
Lawler says Republicans have worked together well this campaign, focusing on crime and inflation. He believes it's going to pay off.
"We've worked cohesively as one ticket, up and down the ballot, supporting each other, helping get the message out and turn out the vote."
Polls are open on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
