The Arc Westchester helps to provide jobs for individuals with developmental disabilities

News 12 visited a business working alongside The Arc Westchester to create an inclusive and empowering workspace during Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
The Mines Press, and its subdivision "Iscream," currently employ two people with developmental disabilities through The Arc Westchester's Employment Program.
The program has job coaches, which help to train the individual on what the job will entail.
Dennis Clohosey has been employed since 2019.
He works on a variety of tasks from breaking down cardboard boxes to putting a smile on his coworker's faces.
He says his favorite part of the day is labeling and making his colleagues laugh.
"When I come to work I make people very happy when I crack up jokes," he said.
The Arc Westchester includes over 100 participating businesses within their employment network.
Steven Mines, president of The Mines Press, is currently looking to employ a third worker through the program.
"They clearly feel good about being productive every day and that makes everyone around them feel good," said Mines. "Everyone in the building shares collectively in their success."
