Tenants at 1221 Sheridan Ave. say they have been without gas since June.
A gas leak at the building led Con Edison to shut off service. Residents say temporary fixes are costing them big time and that the work started to get the gas back was troublesome.
The Department of Buildings has issued a stop work order on the building and a "work without a permit" violation, saying six new gas risers from the cellar to apartments were illegally installed. In order to get the gas restored, the DOB says the landlord must first get new permits to fix the gas lines.
Once all gas lines are secure, Con Ed can restore the gas. The DOB also says that as of now, the landlord has not applied for a new permit.
