The temporary Glen Island Bridge is officially open just in time for the summer.

The temporary bridge is now open to both vehicle traffic and pedestrians on the walkway.

The temporary bridge is built to the north of the permanent bridge so that the community can continue to enjoy Glen Island Park while repairs are underway.

Construction started last December.

County officials say the project costs about $22 million.

The bridge is almost 100 years old, so it needs some safety improvements.

County officials say this temporary bridge is a major milestone in the project and they're thrilled the temporary bridge is open in time for summer.

Boat traffic under the bridge will start on May 22.

The permanent bridge will be done with all repairs in spring 2027. The temporary bridge will be dismantled.
