Clarkstown police are investigating a car crash in New City that killed a 17-year-old Haverstraw boy Saturday.
According to police, a car carrying four male Haverstraw teens was driving south toward Route 9W when it crashed into a utility police around 12:30 a.m. Police say a guide wire attached to the pole severed the car in half. A passenger in the back seat was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
Police say the three others in the car, who were about 17 or 18 years old, were taken to Nyack Hospital. A 3-mile stretch of road was closed for about 11 hours as police investigated.
