Officials are taking a hard look at Tarrytown?s firefighting capabilities after multiple hydrants failed during a house fire over the weekend. Volunteers struggled to douse the flames on Cobb Lane as residents watched and worried. Neighbors say they were outraged to learn that three fire hydrants along the block had no water and firefighters had to look for other water sources to fight the blaze. Tarrytown Fire Chief Domenic Morabito says no one is sure who the hydrants belong to, the village or the homeowner. He says that needs to be determined before any action can be taken. Last Tuesday, firefighters in Peekskill had their own problem getting enough water to put out a fire. Fire officials say the 100-year-old water system makes it difficult to fight today?s fires.
