A swastika found on Dale Avenue in Ossining this past weekend has been painted over.
Police say a woman walking her dog late Saturday night spotted the symbol on the street.
Vandalizing public property is a crime, but Ossining Police Chief Kevin Sylvester says it's more than that.
"Things like that tend to be put there to put people in fear, to intimidate others," he says.
Police say they will continue patrolling the neighborhood and urge the public to call them if they see anything.
