Police responded to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets Wednesday evening with bomb-sniffing dogs after reports of a suspicious package.
The incident prompted a partial evacuation of the mall.
A police dog flagged the luggage three times, but authorities say it appears to have been a mistake.
Detectives say they found nothing suspicious inside the discarded suitcase.
