Suspects steal $9K from 68-year-old after she made withdrawal from Newburgh bank
Susan Travis, 68, says she took out $9,000 in cash from Wells Fargo Bank in the town of Newburgh last July to pay a contractor but instead of making it home with the money, she was robbed in the parking lot as she got into her car.

yesterdaySusan Travis, 68, says she took out $9,000 in cash from Wells Fargo Bank in the town of Newburgh last July to pay a contractor but instead of making it home with the money, she was robbed in the parking lot as she got into her car.
“I had thrown my pocketbook in and a gentleman was yelling back there,” said Travis. “I see dollar bills and I was like, 'It’s not mine. It’s not mine!'”
Travis says one suspect distracted her on the driver’s side of her vehicle, claiming she dropped money in the parking lot on North Plank Road.
She says her envelope filled with cash was taken from her purse by a second suspect through the passenger side door.
Town of Newburgh police say the suspects may have done this before and went inside the bank to target their victim.
News 12 was given surveillance photos of the suspects by police who say the men casually walked off and have not been identified.
Authorities say they’re aware of at least one other similar incident around the same time in Connecticut and that the same people could be to blame.
Travis says Wells Fargo told her that it's not responsible to repay the money since it was stolen outside of the bank.
“It’s just sad. We believe people. We trust people. What’s this world coming to? I’m still hurt, and I’m really hurt by Wells Fargo.”
Travis now hopes to alert others to the scam and wants people to take a close look at their photos.
She’s offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to their arrests.
A representative for Wells Fargo says they are cooperating with the police investigation.
