A New Jersey man accused of stealing power tools from vehicles in Suffolk County was arrested on Friday night, while two other suspects remain at large.
Police say they responded to a home on Lantern Street in Greenlawn after receiving a 911 call reporting multiple people damaging vehicles around 4:15 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers spotted several individuals searching through a vehicle parked in front of the residence. The suspects fled on foot, but one was arrested a short time later.
Police say 30-year-old Bayron Velazco Parody was charged with resisting arrest and petit larceny.
Further investigation revealed that he was also responsible for stealing power tools from parked vehicles near several other homes that morning in East Northport and Greenlawn.
This resulted in additional charges including multiple counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Police say he is set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
