One of the four suspects charged in the shooting death of a Yonkers baseball prospect has been released from jail.
Tejmitra Singh, 23, of the Bronx, was released on $350,000 bail on Wednesday. Singh is not accused of pulling the trigger, but was charged with felony assault and weapons possession last week. He's due back in court later this month.
Police say Singh and two other men were in a car when Nashaun Hunter, 17, fired at Michael Nolan and struck him in the head in the parking lot of a Burger King on Central Avenue in Yonkers last fall. Nolan died three weeks later.
Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a street racing dispute. Although the gun used in the shooting has not been recovered, it is believed to be illegal.
Nolan's family is now working with local and state officials to try to pass a law under which anyone caught with an illegal firearm would face a mandatory 10 years in jail.
