The man charged in the 2019 Hanukkah stabbings in Monsey will remain in a psychiatric facility through at least next February.
The decision involving Grafton Thomas came in a federal judge's order this week.
The government made its recommendation based on a ruling by a Rockland County Court judge last January.

That judge determined that Thomas remains incompetent to stand trial and said he should remain in the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center for another year.
Thomas' attorney says his client has a long-standing serious psychosis and trusts he is receiving the treatment he needs.
Thomas faces federal and state charges stemming from the stabbings that left five injured.
One of those injured died three months later.
