Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman who tried to break up a fight at a Bronx apartment building.
Benjamin Waters, 33, is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities say Waters stabbed 28-year-old Caroline Vargas in the torso Sunday with a kitchen knife at 306 E. 180th St., which is Waters' apartment. Police believe Vargas was trying to break up a fight between Waters and another man.
The victim's family says Vargas was friends with her attacker. Investigators say the woman was playing cards at the apartment.
