Susan Zhuang inaugurated as council member, aims to give voice to hundreds of Asians in South Brooklyn

The 43rd District is a brand-new district created to increase representation in the Asian community.

It was a celebration for many Brooklyn residents on Sunday as Council Member Susan Zhuang had her inauguration ceremony.

She is now the council member for the 43rd District, giving a voice to hundreds in the Asian community. The 43rd District is a brand-new district created to increase representation in the Asian community.

Zhuang is a first-generation Asian American immigrant. She said she's committed to improving South Brooklyn.

"We are celebrating the Year of the Dragon. We have the spirit of the dragon that we never give up,” she said. “ ...Thank you America and New York City for making my immigrant success story possible.”

Zhuang added that she is ready for this new journey, and she is excited to make a difference.
