Doctors are sounding the alarm about a surge in injuries tied to electric bikes and scooters across the United States.
Health officials say more than 20,000 people are hurt each year while riding electric bikes.
About 3,000 of those injuries require hospitalization.
Experts say helmets can help prevent serious injuries—but only if they’re properly rated. “This helmet is rated a level 3,” said Dr. Marc Levy, “It protects the head at speeds up to 28 MPH.”
Doctors recommend checking helmet ratings before buying one.
