GoFundMe pages have been launched for the Suffern Little League and youth football teams after Ida’s destruction left their fields and facilities damaged.
Both leagues had their fields along with concessions and storage facilities flooded.
The teams estimate the damage to cost over $30,000.
Suffern Little League president Jim Hart tells News 12 everything was damaged.
“Speakers, PA system, everything we had is a complete loss. Our snack stand lost all its freezers, equipment to cook with, refrigerators, and any product we had to sell for the snack stand is a complete loss,” says Hart. “We also lost all of our football equipment from our Pop Warner.”
There’s also concern that the fields were contaminated with sewage since they’re adjacent to a wastewater treatment facility.
Both leagues are in the process of getting the ground tested.
"That's gonna be something we'll know over the next couple of days and we'll know more once we get tested,” says Hart.
